How about boarding a plane on Friday night, starting with a night swim, continuing with a full day of swimming in the sea, tanning under a straw umbrella, enjoying a mega party at the busiest discotheque in the evening, a morning city tour of Palma, and then hopping on a plane back to Slovakia? Unrealistic? All it takes is one well-planned weekend 🙂

Day 1 – Friday evening arrival
We arrive at the airport in the evening at 10:00 PM. We board public transport and after a few stops, we arrived right in front of our meeting point.Hotel Balear. It is just a few meters from the most famous beach Playa de Palma, so we head for a night swim right after setting our things in the room. We met by the “baywatch” tower with two Slovak girls, which was nice. We took a quick dip and now we are off to explore the streets, but not for long as it is almost midnight. We will buy a gallon of water for the room and then off to bed.
Day 2 – Playa de Palma and Riu Palace Disco
In the morning at 7:00, the alarm goes off so that we don’t waste any time. We have breakfast and head to the beach. There are many places with webcams, and we had already picked one in advance. We chose a webcam located right at the entrance to the beach. So, we sent the link to our family back home, called to let them know we were there, and started sharing links. Just take a look at the photos, it was quite fun.
TIP: Webcams in Mallorca
After goofing around in the sand, we went to lay down by the baywatch tower. There were nice red sunbeds with straw umbrellas, so we couldn’t resist. As it later turned out, they were paid, 5€ per day. Every now and then, a Chinese lady passed by, and if you even blinked at the word “massage,” you couldn’t get rid of her, poor Tomáš 🙂
TIP: If you hear street vendors saying “pineapple, melon, coconut”, avoid them from a distance. First, they will give you a piece of melon to taste, and then if you show interest, they will ask you for €4 for one slice and start bothering you if you refuse to pay, claiming they have a baby at home and similar stories. At least the massage was worth the €5.
The sun is shining beautifully all day, and in the afternoon, we move a bit further north, where there are more people and cleaner water. We swim in the sea, sunbathe on sunbeds, and then go find something to eat. A hefty kebab wins, and we pair it with a jug of sangria. In the evening, we relax a bit and get ready for a night out.
TIP: If you love the nightlife, the best disco club by far is Riu Palace.
The bus had a stop right in front of this establishment. Young people were standing all around, luring us in, and it was clear that it was lively inside. From the outside, it reminded me of a church tower. We paid a fixed entrance fee, which included 3 free shots for everyone and entrance to two other disco clubs. We only took advantage of the drinks included (vodka with juice) since the disco club was more than amazing. The place had a lot of stages, and on each of them, your eyes were drawn to scantily clad go-go dancers. They didn’t like being filmed on a phone, so I gave up after a while. It was a feast for the eyes, I don’t know who chose them, but they really took care of it 🙂 That night, the singer R.I.O. also appeared on the main stage. Sometime before three, we slowly made our way home along the coast to sober up a bit. We even went for a swim naked, and around four, we arrived back at the room completely dead.
Day 3 – La Seu Cathedral and Almudaina Palace
On the next day, we split into two groups. I went to explore the capital of Palma, while the rest went for one last swim in the sea. I got a lift near Park de la Mar and had a look at the exterior of La Seu Cathedral, the courtyard, the green pond, and theRoyal Palace of La Almudaina. Among the attractions there were “headless” performers, horse carriage, or “bubble blowers”. I sat in the park for a while and then headed back by bus to meet my friends. By the way, the buses were really air-conditioned, not like here. Our weekend in Mallorca is coming to an end, and we will fly home at 4:40 PM.
