Do you want to clear your mind with fresh air and escape from everyday reality as soon as possible? But you don’t feel like traveling far? That’s exactly how we felt when the idea of going to the Czech Beskids came up. They’re just a stone’s throw away from our Kysuce. We chose the Recreational Center Sepetná in Ostravice. Next time, we will definitely go there to try cross-country skiing, which we have been postponing for years!

What did we manage to do in the Beskids over the weekend?

Horní Mazáčské skály on Lysá hora

1. A walk to the river rapids, the ideal easy route for lazy hikers. For those who are not lazy (unlike us), they can enjoy the greenery on Lysej hore (1323 m above sea level), which is the highest point in the area and offers a view from Jeseníky, across Malá Fatra to High Tatras. This peak is surrounded by many legends of a bizarre nature. One of them is connected to the traditional May Day gathering of witches on this mountain.

2. When it started raining, we took a breakbadminton in the hall within the hotel complex. The courts are like new and cheaper than usual in Bratislava. There is also a climbing wall, bowling, swimming pool, massages, and other pastimes within the hall. Basically, everything possible so that you won’t get bored even in bad weather. However, if the weather is nice, you can rent a segway, electric or mountain bikes, scooters, and other means of getting around.

When it snows, the area comes alive mainly with skiing and cross-country skiing. In summer, you can have fun on the toboggans.swimming pool. We were also surprised by the number of attractions for families with children and animators who will entertain you from those little rascals for a while 🙂

3. Enjoy a great meal. At the Sepetná hotel, there is a cozy cottage where you can treat yourself to a tenderloin just like mom used to make or delicious grilled fish at very friendly prices after a sporting activity. We were also lucky to have cimbalom musicians who didn’t play in our stomachs, but rather enriched our evening.Restaurace Valašská koliba

4. But most importantly, finally get a good night’s sleep. The air scented with conifers and the holy peace in our spacious room. Priceless. Not to mention the bathtub with water jets.

What did we like?

  • Hiking trails are meticulously marked with colored markers and dots, so you surely won’t get lost.
  • Affordable prices
  • Quality gastronomy
  • Mountain resort untouched by financial groups
  • Friendly environment for couples and families.
  • Hotel mascot – a fancy sheep

What we didn’t like?

  • It was short, we didn’t manage to see all the attractions
  • Nothing wrong, we’re glad it rained, but what else would we complain about if not the weather? 😀
