Lisbon – European San Francisco
Golden Gate Bridge, Christ the Redeemer statue, thrilling historic trams that will make your blood freeze in your veins. Yes, you might have thought of San Francisco or Rio de Janeiro, but we are not talking about America at all. All these attractions are within reach in one of the main European cities - Lisbon. Along with the world's largest technology conference - Web Summit, held annually in November, you can combine a pleasant visit with technological innovations. You can also take a brief trip to the pilgrimage site of Fatima, where allegedly the Virgin Mary appeared a hundred years ago in 1917.
Chile – General advices
Chile is not a typical holiday destination for Slovaks. However, it is definitely not because it has nothing to offer. In the north, the landscapes are out of this world, with salt flats, geysers, wind-carved canyons, volcanoes, salt lakes, and thermal springs.
Philippines – a country where you won’t go hungry
More than 7,000 islands, catalogically beautiful beaches, stunning coral gardens, wrecks of Japanese ships from World War II, volcanoes, jungle. All of this makes up the Philippines with water as warm as milk.
Laos – Bolaven Plateau Highland
I have decided to write about a specific place in Laos, the Bolaven Plateau, which most travelers skip or may never even venture to in this country.
Eilat – Red and Dead Sea in one
November is the month when you can no longer swim in the Mediterranean without toughening up. If you don't want to opt for expensive exotic destinations, the Israeli city of Eilat is perfect for a long weekend with swimming in the Red Sea. Flights from Bratislava to Eilat are available in a Ryanair promotion starting from €30. A trip to Eilat can be combined with the Dead Sea and the gigantic fortress of Masada. And by the way, did you know that Piestany is a sister city of Eilat?
Thailand – detailed guide 3/3 – Koh Tao and Koh Samui
Beautiful and dangerous. This is how the islands of Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, and Koh Tao in the Gulf of Thailand could be characterized. The trio of the most famous islands is complemented by the marine national park Ang Thong National Park. You can read about how to rent a scooter, arrange a boat trip around the island, get your broken leg treated, or experience New Year's Eve on one of them in the third part of our comprehensive Thailand guide.
Sofia – Niš trip
Sofia could be considered the heart of the Balkan Peninsula. Its history dates back to Roman times, when the ancient city of Serdica was an important center of activity. As a new destination of Wizz Air, Sofia is an ideal tip for a long weekend. Thanks to Ryanair, you can combine it with Serbia - exploring Sofia - Niš.
Florence and Pisa for the weekend
I do not hide the fact that I am an incorrigible "Italophile", and therefore I do not refuse any opportunity to visit this amazing country. This time we chose a citybreak to Pisa-Florence. But I also have a few tips on how to spend a longer time in Tuscany. The quickest way to get to the capital of Tuscany, Florence, is by flying to nearby Pisa and then taking a bus or train for an hour. Ryanair flies from Budapest to Pisa, and Eurowings low-cost airline from Vienna. The price in late February via Eurowings was 80 euros per person, the flight takes just over an hour.
Sarajevo – European Jerusalem
Sarajevo, wake up. You may encounter such a sign in the capital city of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Sarajevo. The city, which was the site of the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the host of the 1984 Winter Olympics, but also a sad witness to the bloody siege of just under ten years later, has truly been through it all.
