Tired of biking around your neighborhood? Try a slightly bigger challenge with a route of almost 400 km. Don’t be afraid, even a less experienced biker can handle it. The journey takes place 99% of the time on bike paths and local roads with gentle inclines along the beautiful Danube river.

Itinerary

Day 1: Evening arrival in Passau

  • Train ticket from Bratislava to Passau can be bought online through Einfach-Raus-Radticket, price €43 for 2 persons with bikes, journey takes about 5 hours
  • Camping by the Ilz River – Camping Passau (price €9.50/night/person)

Day 2: Passau – Ottensheim (90 km)

  • Passau tour – a city on the border with Austria at the confluence of three rivers – Inn, Danube, and Ilz. In the St. Stephen’s Basilica, there is the largest organ in the world (outside of the USA), an organ concert every day at 12:00.
  • Schlögen – Danube’s meander, viewpoint 15 min walk from the Donauschlinge hotel (right bank).
  • Accommodation arranged by phone on-site in Ottensheim – private Gästehaus Hemmelmayr (price with breakfast 27€/night/person).

Day 3: Ottensheim – Grein (90 km)

Day 4: Grein – Krems an der Donau (95 km)

Day 5: Krems an der Donau – Vienna (104 km)
